Most people probably know but yesterday I went to see Adam ant at the ballroom (ex-carling academy) in Birmingham! Got there about an hour and a half before doors open, and the queue only had about 25 people in it. I'm used to like massive queues at that point so it was really weird. Note: wearing a top with no sleeves and a see through shirt is not adequate cold weather clothing because after an hour I'm pretty convinced my nervous system was shutting down.
Inside we were on the second row, probably two people to the right of Adam! It wasn't really packed for the support acts - the first of which, Johnny Normal, was absolutely fantastic despite only playing three songs. Second support act was boring as fuck. An all girl band, that were basically a band for the sake of being a band, not for the music. The lead woman wore some latex dress, covered herself in glitter and thought she was like gods gift... she wasn't. She was also Adam's backing vocals but luckily, you couldn't hear her, just see her which was basically the worst part.
THIS IS WHERE IT JUST GETS AWHRGDF and i'm just so sorry for being a massive fucking fangit or w/e. Oh and sorry for how badly this is worded etc. I don't care enough to check it or anything. After waiting ages Adam Ant and the good the bad and the lovely posse FINALLY HAPPENED. I swear the man could be a rotting corpse and he could quite possibly be the most perfect man ever. He's like what.... 58 now and he just runs about and spins (he really likes spinning it's kind of adorable) and is just so active. Well compared to me, I get like knee joint pains walking up the stairs. He had the whole outfit on aswell! Like, thee adam ant outfit. I nearly died. His fucking legs in the boots man ugggghhhh. He's put on weight since like the 80's but we all know that. 1) he's nearly 60 and 2) he's bipolar and well all the meds and just depression, never do your weight any good. BUT he looks good cus he's just chubby. As the show went on, he did lost items on clothing. Jacket, went first as he ripped open the tour shirt he had on (behold me and a bunch of sexually frustrated middle aged woman screaming), then the white shirt was open, the he tied it like he used to, then for the encore it just went all together, leaving the partially ripped tour shit. YEAH I DIED A LITTLE BECAUSE HI ADAM. It's p. fucking awkward when you're screaming over a 60 year old man with your mother............ I can't remember the setlist entirely. He played two of his new songs and they're so good. Umm, also played kings of the wild frontier, whip in my valise viva le rock, lady, desperate but not serious, antmusic, dog eat dog and like loads of others that i can't remember because HE PLAYED GOODY TWO SHOES AND ZEROX. those two being amazing live because every one sings along with goody two shoes and it's amazing. I wanted him to play apollo 9 and friend or foe but alas, no luck. Of course he played STAND AND DELIVER AND PRINCE CHARMING. EVERYONE GOES MENTAL FOR THOSE. EVEN OLD PEOPLE. A crowd doing prince charming is the best thing ever. Except there were four woman in front of us, who got nick named the nutjobs. They were essentially four middle aged desperate woman clinging to their youth and fantasy that Adam Ant will fall in love with them. (Also they were on fb loads like wtf please fuck off......). But these woman were going crazy for all of it except when Prince Charming came on they just stood there. WHY?! YOU DON'T DO THAT! Fucking ruined it till I got carried away when Adam made us sing it. Stand and deliver was good too because everyone was singing and arms in the air. It's weird that they're not like that for every song? But I guess it's an older crowd, not a bunch of rabid fangirls.
Random bits: one point he ate part of a rose. He was chewing it for a while but made no "ew" faces so.... Adam ant likes eating roses? He spoke about writing the only one love song he wrote and I kind of forgot what he said because accent. He did say 50 shades of grey was too light for him which was hilarious. He moves around a lot and kept getting the mic stand tangle in cables. And he's kind of like Satoshi because his tongue is out of his mouth a lot and he just is really great and perfect cries
Jesus I just want to be back there already. I don't care if the crowd was weird and full of people my moms age or if latex woman also wore a corset that didn't fit at all, I want to be backkkk
Outfit for the show! Oh yeah, loads of people at the show were dressed up like Adam and had white stripes on there faces/hats on :D
